Jonathan Glew is a freelance theatre director, writer and composer based in London.  



MOST RECENTLY


In October 2023 Jonathan finished working as Staff Director on the National Theatre’s smash hit revival of ‘The Effect.‘  The production ran from August 1st through to October 7th.  More information can be found HERE.



 

RECENTLY

Jonathan is currently working as director and composer on a new musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘TREASURE ISLAND’ in collaboration with celebrated playwright Robert Farquhar.

In November 2023, Jonathan directed two productions simultaneously at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts as part of the 3rd year BA actors ‘Youth Revolt’ season.  THE IT by Vivienne Franzmann and a new adaptation of SPRING AWAKENING written by Jonathan.

Jonathan is currently on a writing attachment at The National Theatre working on a new piece. More news coming....




After a hugely successful run at The National Theatre last summer, The Effect will be performing at The Shed in New York from March 3rd - 31st

Jonathan continues his long time collaboration with The Jamie Lloyd Company, working as Associate Director on their new production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ starring Tom Holland.

Coming Up in 2024

From January to June 2023 Jonathan worked as Associate Director on the hugely acclaimed Broadway production of A Dolls House starring Jessica Chastain.  The show ran ran on Broadway at The Hudson between Feb & June 2023.  The production won numerous awards including ‘Best Revival at the 2023 Drama League Awards and was nominated for 6 Tonys.
